Back Pain Relief
As surveyed by NHS, more than 80% of people in UK suffer from back pain. The back pain is categorized into two parts the specific and the no-specific back pain. Muscle relaxant affects the brain and not directly on the muscles. These medicines are basically sedatives and therefore it should be taken at night. Driving or operating machineries should be restricted during this period as it causes drowsiness. Common muscle relaxant that helps in back pain relief is carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine, diazepam, metaxalone, methocarbamol, etc.
For chronic back pain relief you can use tricyclic antidepressants. The increase certain chemical level in the brain which helps in diverting the feeling and the way the brain thinks. This should not be taken for instant pain as the effect is observed after few weeks. These drugs can have side effects like constipation, vision problem, fatigue, low blood pressure, sweating and similar other problems. The common back pain relief antidepressants are amitriptyline, doxepin hydrochloride, imipramine hydrochloride, nortriptyline and desipramine
Nonsteriodal inflammatory drugs and COX -2 inhibitors relieve back pain by controlling the inflammation caused due to pain. These are primarily used for serious low back pain and the duration of the medication can be from one to three weeks or more, if necessary. These drugs has certain restrictions of age and ailments, therefore, it is advisable to consult a doctor before using it. The usual medicines are aspirin, naproxen, celecobix, refecobix and valdecobix.
Many people resort to take narcotics for back pain relief. Narcotics are available only on doctor’s prescription. This drug dissociates the patient from the feeling of pain.
